Members
of the Lincoln American Legion Post 263
carefully lay flags on the fire during
the flag retirement ceremony on
Wednesday morning. The ceremony was
hosted this year by the Legion and the
Daughters of the American Revolution.
The proper retirement of an American
Flag includes burning, then collecting
the ashes for burial. The Legion accepts
all torn, worn, faded, or tattered flags
throughout the year and stores them
until they hold the next flag retirement
ceremony.
