For
the weekend, the pink shirt pictures posted are those of Best
Friends Animal Hospital, CEFCU, Copper Creek, Cricket Wireless,
Heritage Packaging, Lincoln Dental, Napa Auto Parts and Sew Personal
Embroidery. The first seven pictures are of Lincoln area businesses,
while the eighth picture - Sew Personal embroidery is from Atlanta,
making these lovely folks unique in the grouping.
We're reminded that while we all have many common attributes, we are
unique inside due to our genetic structure. There are now genetic
tests that can be performed to determine if a person is more likely
to develop breast cancer in her or his lifetime. The tests are most
often recommended when there is a long or recurring history of
breast cancer among other members of the family. Genetic testing is
an option you should review with your doctor. The doctor will advise
you if the testing is worthwhile for you.

On
Monday, the final stages of cleaning up the contaminated soil on
Third Street next door to the Logan County Department of Public
Health will begin. This is the site of the former Lincoln Street
Department. From 1873 to 1935, the property was the city's gas
plant, where coal was used to create gas for consumer use as well as
municipal use. The old gas plant created a bi-product that,
according to the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency, is a soil
contaminate. Common Wealth Edison and Nicor Gas are responsible for
doing the soil reclamation, which should take about 18 months to
complete.
