The
two top pictures are of the original Route 66/main street through
Atlanta; the first is from the 1940s, the second from 2014. Both
feature the iconic Palms Grill Cafe that was a Route 66 bus stop in
the '40s and later became a popular tourist stop. The Palms was
forced to close its doors in 2020 due to the coronavirus. With Covid
on the decrease and vaccines on the horizon, the Atlanta Library
Board, who own the building, is seeking to re-open the cafe. Anyone
interested in leasing the business may learn more in today's edition
of Lincoln Daily News.
