Friday
evening in Lincoln was cold. But that did not stop
people from attending the annual Winter Wonderland tree
lighting event on the lawn of the Logan County
Courthouse.
After the official lighting of the 100 decorated trees
many folks walked around the square enjoying all the
trees and marking the moment with photos of the trees
that held significant meaning for them personally. One
such family did that, posing for a group photo with a
tree that commemorated two loved ones.
Saturday
was Small Business Saturday all around the country. The
day also marked the kick-off of this year's Christmas
Express holiday promotion in Lincoln. All around the
Logan County Courthouse Square business owners were
thrilled with the turnout of shoppers electing to shop
local and take advantage of a chance to win up to $650
in gift cards for local businesses.
In addition to great shopping
opportunities in the downtown Lincoln area, Saturday
morning the Lincoln Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary
hosted their annual "Shop One Stop" event at the K of C
Hall. The event brings shoppers and home-based business
owners together for opportunities to grab up some unique
items for Christmas giving.
LDN will have additional coverage from the downtown area
and the Shop One Stop in a future edition.

Thanksgiving Tournament Team - Lincoln's Jake Bivin and Payton
Cook lead the all-tournament team
From left to right: Trae Warren, Jack Young, Jake Bivin and Payton
Cook battled it out for the tournament championship and were named
to the all-tournament team following Lincoln’s 44-30 win over
Champaign Centennial.
Payton Cook reached
double-figures in all four games of the tournament, averaging 14.5
points per game.
Jake Bivin averaged 13.3 points per game for the tournament. His 20
points scored Saturday night is a career-high so far at the Varsity
level.
