The
Paint the Paper Pink picture for today features Nick
Bekteshi, owner of the Country Aire Restaurant in
Atlanta, and his staff on the evening of Wednesday,
September 29th. We recall that date because that was the
day Bekteshi took the Pink Challenge and hosted a
fundraiser for the American Cancer Society.
Over the last few years, LDN has interviewed several
women who are breast cancer survivors. One thing they
all have in common is that they all remember the exact
date when they heard those horrible words, "You have
breast cancer."
This shows that breast cancer or any other type of
cancer is not just a physical ailment. It impacts our
mental health, which is why it is so important that we
have people who will listen and allow us to express our
emotions.
The American Cancer Society offers access to online
support groups and referrals to in-person groups so when
you need to talk there are people who will listen.
