This
weekend on Saturday, September 17th and Sunday,
September 18th, the Beason community will celebrate its
150th anniversary. Celebratory events are planned for
both days to commemorate the milestone, including a
Saturday morning parade and many other family-friendly
events throughout the day.
Lincoln Daily News will be bringing readers a four-part
series on the community starting today with the early
history of the community and its founders.
Beason was laid out by Silas Beason, Jonathan R. Hall,
George Gelsthorp, Elias Hammerton, Lewis C. Turk and
Joseph Wilson, and was a railroad town. It was named for
Silas Beason, who, along with William Gelsthorp, brought
the railroad through Beason and Lincoln from Chicago.
