Within the Lincoln Police Department,
officers Cody Curry and Collin Antoine have been
promoted to the rank of Corporal. At the Tuesday night
meeting of the Lincoln City Council, both were to be
sworn into their new positions. However, an emergency
call just moments before the beginning of the council
meeting called Antoine away. The swearing ceremony was
pushed to the end of the session, but when the time
arrived, Antoine was still out on the call.
Mayor Tracy Welch led the swearing ceremony for Corporal
Curry, who then went around the room, shaking hands and
receiving congratulations from city officials. The last
to congratulate Curry was his commanding officer, Chief
Joe Meister.
Both Welch and Meister apologized to the family members
of Corporal Antoine and said his swearing ceremony would
be rescheduled. Meister noted that the lack of ceremony
did not interfere with Antoine's promotion. It would
still take effect as planned.
