Today we are featuring three components of one business, the Longview Bank branches in Mt. Pulaski and Chestnut. The fine folks at Longview Bank want readers to know that they are supporting and showing their love and concern for breast cancer warriors and survivors by wearing their pink in the month of October.

As we look at these three groups we see that one is a little further removed from the other two, and it brings to mind the idea that sometimes cancer warriors need someone who is not emotionally connected to talk to and vent about the battle they are in. And at the same time it would be good to find common ground with someone, a person who has been at war, a survivor who is learning how to cope with the changes their disease brought to their life, someone who when he or she says “I understand,” they really do because they have been in a similar situation.

Warriors should know that the American Cancer Society offers a Breast Cancer Support group via the internet. Warriors can go online and chat with survivors who have faced similar battles. These people are NOT medical professionals, and cannot give you treatment advise, but they can listen to you, hear your concerns, tell you what they encountered and help you most importantly understand that you are not alone.

If you need support, or if you are a survivor who would like to offer support, visit the Brest Cancer Support Group page at cancer.org
