Marilyn Montgomery was honored Tuesday evening at the Lincoln City Council Committee of the Whole meeting. Montgomery has served twice on the city's Fire & Police Commission and is now stepping down permanently.

The city gave her a plaque in appreciation of her years of service. Lincoln Police Chief Joe Meister and Fire Chief Ty Johnson presented the award. Both Meister and Johnson, along with Mayor Tracy Welch, offered words of praise and appreciation for her commitment to the city. Marilyn said it had been a pleasure to serve the city, work with several department chiefs and mayors over the years, and receive great support from everyone.
