[NOV. 3, 2003]  Remodeling at the Lincoln Park District is nearly finished. Currently the contractors are replacing the roof over the aerobics room, the HVAC crew is installing the ductwork, and the electricians are working on the wiring. The projected date for completion is at the end of November.

When renovations are complete the park district will boast four versatile courts. One is an indoor tennis court, the second court will be for tennis and basketball, and the third and fourth courts will be for basketball and volleyball.

There will be a new cardio and weight area also. The sauna is being installed and should be ready for use when workers are done moving everything back.

The locker rooms have also been renovated, with the additional offering of a family changing room.

Tumbling

There will be another tumbling class. This six-week session will begin on Sunday, Nov. 9. Beginners in kindergarten through second grade will meet in the aerobics room from noon to 12:50. Beginners in third through sixth grade will meet from 1 to 1:50 p.m. The cost to participate in either of these sessions will be $35 for in-district residents and $40 for people from outside the district. The intermediate classes will meet from 2 to 2:50 p.m., and the cost for this more advanced group is $40 in district and $45 out of district. Class size will be very limited and early registration is encouraged.

Krista Holley will be the instructor. Krista is from Farmington, where she is a varsity cheerleader and a member of the dance team as well. She brings with her 12 years of tumbling experience, with 10 of those years in competition. She has placed first two times in the AAU Nationals (Junior Olympics). Krista is the sister of Summer Holley, current instructor.

Basketball

Junior Railer basketball sign-ups began on Oct. 27 at the Rec Center. This program is for boys in first through sixth grades. Location of the first couple of practices will be announced at the time of registration.

The YMCA will offer basketball for girls.

Halloween

Once again Lincoln Park District hosted Halloween Fun Fest. Two great parties were planned for the trick-or-treaters. First, children hit the halls at Maple Ridge Care Centre on Thursday, Oct. 30, from 4 to 6 p.m. Then it was on to the Rec Center from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Both of these events were free to attend.
