The
Lincoln College volleyball squad is mourning the loss of fellow
freshman player Melissa Brassard, 18, of Milford, who died
tragically in an automobile accident on Saturday, Oct. 11.

The Iroquois County
sheriff's police reported that Brassard was westbound on Road 1100
North when she lost control of her vehicle on gravel, struck a ditch
embankment and then rolled several times before landing in a farm
field. She was pronounced dead at Iroquois Memorial Hospital.
Lincoln College
volleyball coach Mark Tippett says it's a tremendous tragedy for his
team. "Melissa was a bright, intelligent girl who was incredible to
coach. Our team is devastated, and we all are trying to do the best
that we can at this point."
Lincoln College
President Ron Schilling says the college will feel a great loss.
"This situation is truly a humbling experience because the college
was honored to have Melissa as a student. She was doing well in her
classes and will be sadly missed by all who knew her."
