Daniel Candlish Jr.

Daniel H. Candlish Jr., 55, of Lincoln died Tuesday (Oct. 21, 2003) at 2:23 p.m. at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.

Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln. There will be a rosary service at 4 p.m.

His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Holy Family Church in Lincoln, with the Rev. Thomas Taylor officiating.

Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield.

Mr. Candlish was a retired auditor. He had worked in a government office for veterans.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1967 to 1971.

He was born Sept. 22, 1948, in Kokomo, Ind., to Daniel H. and Suda Carolyn Nelson Candlish.

Survivors are his father and stepmother, Daniel and Marie Candlish of Hemet, Calif.; his fiancée, Ruth E. Bogart of Lincoln; three sons, David Charles Candlish of Richmond, Ind., Terry Lee (and Michelle) Candlish of Simi Valley, Calif., and William Pete Candlish of Virginia Beach, Va., formerly of Lincoln; one daughter, Heidi Pauline Barrick of Virginia Beach., Va.; 32 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Mike (and Anita) McKelroy of Riverside, Calif., and Stanley Ray Candlish Sr. of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; and two sisters, Brenda Sue (and Greg) Davenport of Sacramento, Calif., and Linda (and Dan) Green of Ventura, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his mother.

He was a member of Holy Family Church in Lincoln.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or to the donor's choice.

Annie Chadwick

Annie Chadwick, 89, of Lincoln, formerly of Mason City, died Wednesday (Oct. 22, 2003) at 1:45 a.m. at Maple Ridge Care Centre.

Her funeral was Friday morning at Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City, with Pastor Bruce Bolin-Ghitalla officiating. Visitation was on Thursday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Auburn, Ky. A graveside service in Auburn Cemetery will be at 2 p.m. Saturday.

Mrs. Chadwick worked as a caregiver.

She was born April 21, 1914, in Logan County, Ky., to John T. and Ida E. Ferrell Bentley. She married E. Oney Reed on Jan. 2, 1932, and he died in 1937. She married Frank J. Chadwick on July 2, 1937, and he died in 1972.

Survivors are one son, William (and Ada) Reed of Orlando, Fla.; two daughters, Judy (and Keith) Hilst of Mason City and Sheila Evans of Lincoln; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Opal Easton, Gathryn (and Melvin) Thomas and Edna (and Horace) Rector, all of Auburn, Ky.

She was also preceded in death by an infant daughter; one son, Lloyd Chadwick; one grandson; two brothers; and five sisters.

She was an active member of Mason City United Methodist Church.

She was an avid quilter and did other needlework, loved flower gardening and cooking, and baby-sat for many years.
