Lincoln teen's cause of death determined   Send a link to a friend

[APRIL 5, 2005]  The death of 16-year-old Sonya Twist has been determined to be due to severe blunt trauma to the head. There were no other apparent injuries, Sangamon County Coroner Susan Boone said this morning. An autopsy performed yesterday revealed the cause.

Sonya and her father, Matthew Twist, were returning to Lincoln Saturday evening when the car she was driving left the road and crashed into a guardrail.

Matthew remains hospitalized at St. John's in Springfield.

Grief counseling was offered at LCHS yesterday. Teachers and students were stunned by the loss of a beautiful, talented young lady who was active in numerous school and church functions. The commonality being said was that she was one who brought others together in a group. It was her friendliness and happy spirit that drew people to her.

Principal Joyce Hubbard said that they will work with students when formal arrangements are set for Sonya.
