Carroll Catholic first-grader named the 2005 state handwriting champion          Send a link to a friend

[APRIL 19, 2005]  Melissa Van of Lincoln was named the 2005 state handwriting champion for Illinois in a national contest sponsored by Zaner-Bloser Educational Publishers. Melissa is a first-grader at Carroll Catholic School in Lincoln.

As state champion, Melissa and her teacher and school principal will receive beautifully engraved wooden pens. Melissa will receive a special award. The school will receive a gift certificate for Zaner-Bloser materials.

Melissa will go on to compete against other state winners for the title of national champion among first-graders. A grand champion will be selected from all entries.
