[MAY 7, 2005]  Stephanie Urton of Lincoln has been named head coach in softball and women's soccer at Lincoln Christian College and Seminary. She will assume her new duties June 1.

Urton is a 2000 graduate of Lincoln Community High School, where she participated two years each in basketball and soccer. Graduating from LCCS on May 14, she played soccer there for two years and was on the basketball team four years.

Urton stated that she is looking forward to the challenges of both sports, hoping to rebuild the soccer team into a winning squad and establishing a winning attitude and spirit in softball, a new sport for LCCS.

Urton, along with Jason Mauhar, the new men's soccer coach, will conduct a resident soccer camp June 19-22. The camp is open to boys and girls from sixth grade through high school.

Kevin Crawford, athletic director LCCS, when asked about Urton, said: "I am really looking forward to Stepahanie's leadership in these two programs. She has just completed a six-month internship under my supervision and brings that experience, along with her competitiveness and determination, to her new position. Being an alumnus of LCCS, she understands what our school is all about and will be a great role model for the young ladies that she will be coaching."

Urton is the daughter of Chris and Lori Urton, missionaries in Papua, New Guinea.
