Kids get health, fitness and safety information

The Lincoln Park District is a beehive of activity today as fifth-graders from around the county rolled in on buses to attend the 22nd annual Children's Health Fair. Students move from station to station and learn important facts about the body, health, fitness and nutrition, and useful drugs that would help keep them healthy now and in the future.  They saw a demonstration on safety: things like how falling into a grain silo could lead to suffocation.  More than 25 agencies provided literature and demonstrations for this year's fair, co-sponsored by the park district and the Logan County Health Department.

Many of the same agencies will be back and some others for tomorrow's Community Health Fair, Saturday, April 5, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.  See the complete story:

The “Open Mic” show, featuring 96.3 FM manager Jim Ash and the LDN's Mike Fak, was available for streaming this morning at 8 on LDN. The live program, in which the two hosts talk about the news of the day, both local and around the world, always has more than its fair share of humor thrown in.
