The
frontage of the Scully Building in
downtown Lincoln is getting a major
overhaul this week.
The
entire renovation is an approved
historic preservation project with
the National Park Service. The storefront will be reconstructed to match
the same view and profile as the one
being removed, to retain the
historical appearance of the
building. It will take several days
to carefully remove the existing
glass and then replace it with new
frames and energy-efficient glass.

The old
adage "What a difference a day makes" holds true with this massive
tree in the Mount Pulaski Cemetery. A large portion of the tree
snapped in high winds on Tuesday, just a day after scores of Mount
Pulaski residents had used the tree for shade during Memorial Day
services. Click on the picture for the previous day's view of the
tree.

In this Dec. 9, 2005, file photo, former UCLA
basketball coach John Wooden listens during a news conference in Anaheim, Calif.
Wooden is reportedly hospitalized in Los Angeles. Los Angeles television station
KCAL and the Los Angeles Times were reporting Thursday night that the
99-year-old Wooden is in "grave" condition at UCLA Medical Center. UCLA
spokesman Marc Dellins told The Associated Press that he spoke to a Wooden
family member Thursday evening and that the family asked that no other
information about Wooden be released.
