Drilling for oil?

Electric crews drill the deep holes to accommodate the traffic signals to be installed on Fifth Street and College. The foundations for the lights have to be deep to make sure the heavy overhead poles can withstand high winds and storms.

Hope they know how to put it back together.

Union Pacific crews have three intersections torn up in Lincoln as workers rebuild the tracks to accept high-speed rail. This time, with Keokuk still open, the traffic problem doesn't appear as bad as it was last month when crossings were closed.

This picture provided by Sotheby's shows Thomas Hart Benton's painting "Flood Disaster," which will be auctioned at Sotheby's in New York on Thursday for an estimated $800,000 to $1.2 million. The painting, created to highlight the damage caused when the Kansas and Missouri rivers swelled to 70 times their normal size on July 13, 1951, goes on the block just as the swollen Mississippi River threatens residents of the South.
