This week, in conjunction with the Illinois State Fair, residents of St. Clara's Manor are celebrating fair week with special activities. Among those activities is the crowning of the queen. This year there were eight contestants competing for the title. Each contestant was required to answer two questions and sing a song. The winner for 2014 was Margie Roloff. Pictured above, St. Clara's Activity director, Penny Tipton crowns the new queen.

Holy Family Church began a capital projects campaign last year with work being done on the exterior of the church and a new roof on the school. This summer Holy Family has continued the work with new windows and doors at Carroll Catholic School and may also work on the church bell tower. The Maya-Maune Company was sub-contracted for the windows and doors at the school. The old ones were rusty, and one could feel air coming thru them. Not only are the replacements more energy efficient, they are also tinted for better security, give the building a much more modern look.

Shirley Hackett regularly hit 200 when she was a league bowler, but pain in her joints caused her to quit mid-game.

The 79-year-old Lincoln woman is now looking forward to a return to bowling with friends after successful replacement surgeries and rehabilitation she completed with Memorial JointWorks at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital (ALMH). Hackett had both hips and her left knee replaced over several years.

The Lincoln FC recently held a summer camp that was arranged by Tim Stuckey, FC director and Lincoln High School soccer coach. Stuckey arranged through Challenger Sports, a worldwide soccer camp operator, to present a British Soccer Camp at the FC complex. Four college age soccer coaches from England arrived in Lincoln to present a one week camp to help local school age players refine their skills. Pictured: Front - A.J. Beard.
