On
Friday evening, 22 of 26 young men who participate in the local
wrestling programs gathered for a group photo. These particular
wrestlers share in creating an interesting piece of local sports
trivia. They represent 11 of the 13 sets of brothers who are
currently competing in either the Lincoln Youth Wrestling program,
or on the Lincoln Junior High School or Lincoln Community High
School teams.
Starting on the left side with the older sibling standing behind the
younger: kneeling is Garrett and standing is Seth Durbin, Carson and
Dawson McConnell, Tristin with Zach Barger, Giovanni and Niccolas
Sundeen; Logan White and Ryan O’Donoghue, Isaiah and Brandon
Sweitzer; Zach Carlile and Isaac Decker; Brodie and Colbie Glenn;
Elliott and Ryan Lichtenwalter, Asher and TJ Morris are the tenth
set of brother wrestlers and the 11th set is Gabriel and Dominick
Cummings.
Austin and Michael O’Donoghue and Spencer and Levi Allison were not
present for the photo.

Over
the weekend, the John Welsh Memorial Basketball Tournament brought
thousands of visitors into Lincoln. The tournament featured boys and
girls basketball teams from third grade through eighth grade. Teams
were spread across ten locations in Lincoln including Carroll
Catholic, Chester-East Lincoln, Central, Lincoln High, Lincoln
Junior High, Washington-Monroe and Zion Lutheran schools. Teams also
played at Lincoln College and the Lincoln Park District.
