LDN -- Top Stories

Tuesday evening at the Lincoln City Council meeting four members of local government who dressed as Abraham Lincoln at the gathering downtown on Saturday came to the meeting wearing their Lincoln outfits. They were joined by Alderman Ron Keller who served as an official witness on Saturday.

Since Saturday, there have been a lot of really great comments about the event. It appears those who were not there now wish they had been. Those who were there are looking forward to doing it again next year!

Logan County Genealogical & Historical Society member and local historian Bill Donath was the guest speaker at the September meeting of the Society. Donath spoke about an ongoing project he has been working on for a while now. He is working to restore a collection of 1800's newspapers that is now officially referred to as the Shew Collection. The newspapers were found in the upstairs area of the MKS Jeweler building as it was being renovated to become Sorrento's Pizzeria. Donath showed the process of drying and restoring the newspapers and reported on his progress thus far.
