Dale Finfrock

Dale B. Finfrock, 79, of Bloomington died at 9:06 p.m. Monday, Oct. 7, 2002, at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington.

His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at East Lawn Funeral Home in Bloomington. Chaplain Rosemary Muchow will officiate. Visitation will be two hours before the service.

Entombment will be in East Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Finfrock retired from the Physical Plant and Maintenance Department at Illinois State University after 25 years. He later worked 10 years in maintenance at Bloomington Country Club.

A World War II veteran, he served in the South Pacific for more than three years with the Marines in the 2nd Division.

He was born Dec. 13, 1922, in Atlanta to Wilbur C. and Gertha Viola Beers Finfrock. He married Betty Armstrong on Nov. 14, 1942, in St. Louis, Mo. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Randy (and Nancy) Finfrock of Aurora; one daughter, Connie (and Ron) Melton of Bloomington; five grandchildren, Darin Melton of Atlanta, Ga., Heather Melton of Madrid, Spain, and Zachary Finfrock, Lucas Finfrock and Benjamin Finfrock, all of Aurora; one sister, Janice Jouett of Wood River; and one brother, Charles (and Maxine) Finfrock of Lincoln.

He was preceded in death by one brother.

He was a member of Bloomington Elks Lodge and East View Christian Church.

Memorials may be made to the Leukemia Association or to the donor’s choice.


Gary Shull

Gary Shull, 59, of Lincoln died at 1:45 p.m. Monday, Oct. 7, 2002, at the U.S. Route 66 bridge south of Lincoln.

A graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Union Cemetery, Lincoln. The Rev. Ray Hudson will officiate.

There is no visitation. Arrangements are being handled by Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.

Mr. Shull was a self-employed farmer.

He was born Jan. 14, 1943, in Latham to John and Jessie Matlock Shull.

Surviving are his mother, of Lincoln; two sons, Richard Lee Shull of Ossian, Ind., and Terry Ray Shull of Phoenix, Ariz.; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one brother, Ronald Dean Shull of New Holland; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.

Dean Tibbs

Dean A. Tibbs, 77, of New Holland died at 2:37 p.m. Monday, Oct. 7, 2002, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.

His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader, with Jon Rose and Frank Bush officiating.

Burial will be in Richmond Grove Cemetery, New Holland.

Mr. Tibbs was a self-employed farm drainage contractor with Tibbs Drainage.

He was a veteran of the Illinois National Guard.

He was born Feb. 12, 1925, in Corwin Township to Dan and Lucy Faulkner Tibbs. He married Gwendolyn R. Rankin on June 28, 1968, in New Holland. She survives.

Also surviving are four sons, Terry Dean (and Kathryn) Tibbs of Landisburg, Pa., Michael (and Rhonda) Tibbs of Virginia Beach, Va., Steve (and Vaughn) Tibbs of Lincoln and J. Robert (and Diane) Rankin of New Holland; two daughters, Betty (and Jerry) Hayes of Lincoln and Mary (and Schinova) Cory of Virginia Beach, Va.; 18 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Roland Tibbs of Lincoln.

He was preceded in death by eight brothers and two sisters.

He was a member and elder of Broadwell Christian Church and a member of the Railsplitter Assocation.

He was a graduate of New Holland High School.
