            Frances Mangold 
            Frances C. Mangold, 99, of Mason City 
            died at 4:55 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2002, at Mason City Area Nursing 
            Home. 
            Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. 
            Thursday, Sept. 5, at Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City. 
            Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday 
            at the First Christian Church in Mason City, with the Rev. Robert 
            Paddack officiating. 
            Burial will be in Mason City Cemetery. 
            Mrs. Mangold was a farmer’s wife, 
            teacher, telephone operator and cook. 
            She was born April 4, 1903, in Mason 
            City to Stephen and Sophia Dunker Cross. She married Clarence Adkins 
            on Feb. 6, 1924, and he died in 1955. She married Ralph Mangold on 
            Feb. 18, 1962, and he died in 1975. 
            Surviving are son Jack (and Marilyn) 
            Adkins of Turtle Lake, N.D., and two stepsons, Ray Mangold of 
            California and Alfred (and Shirley) Mangold of Mason City; daughters 
            Clarencetta (and Harold) McCoy of Delavan, Sophia (and Paul) Doyle 
            of Mason City and Mardelle (and Bob) Bergman of Mason City and 
            stepdaughter Virginia Johnson of Springfield; 15 grandchildren; 37 
            great-grandchildren; 40 great-great-grandchildren; and two 
            great-great-great-grandchildren. 
            She was also preceded in death by two 
            brothers, one grandchild and one great-grandchild. 
            She was a member of First Christian 
            Church in Mason City and a former member of the Mason County Home 
            Extension. Memorial 
            contributions may be made to First Christian Church or the United 
            Methodist Church, both in Mason City, or to Mason City Area Nursing 
            Home. 
   
            Pearl Thuerwachter 
            Pearl E. Michels Thuerwachter, 79, of 
            Lincoln died at 4:39 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 1, 2002, at her home. 
            Cremation rites were accorded. 
            Visitation with the family will be from 
            4 to 6 p.m. Thursday at Holland and Barry Funeral Home in Lincoln. A 
            memorial service will follow at 6 p.m., with Lonita Mitchell 
            officiating. 
            Mrs. Thuerwachter was a speech 
            therapist at Lincoln Elementary Schools. 
            She was born April 20, 1923, in Fond du 
            Lac, Wis., to Henry and Lucy Brill Michels. She married William 
            James Thuerwachter on June 18, 1949, in Fond du Lac, Wis. 
            Surviving are her husband, of Lincoln, 
            and three daughters, Mary Thuerwachter of Santa Cruz, Calif., Tina 
            Thuerwachter of Chicago and Louise (and Melvin) Aylor of Trenton, 
            Fla. 
            She was preceded in death by two 
            sisters, Violet Brost and Grace Breyman. 
            She was a member of Central School 
            Retired Teachers, Logan-DeWitt County Retired Teachers Association, 
            Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and Logan County Herbal 
            Guild. Memorials 
            may be made to Hospice Care of Illinois. 
 
            Dorothy Nichols 
            Dorothy Lucille Nichols, 87, of Lincoln 
            died at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 1, 2002, at Maple Ridge Care 
            Centre. 
            Her funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday 
            at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral home in Lincoln, with Tom Gerdts 
            officiating. Visitation will be from noon until the service time. 
            Burial will be in Zion Cemetery. 
            Mrs. Nichols worked as a dipper for 
            Stetson China Factory. 
            She was born Aug. 20, 1915, in Cedar 
            Rapids, Iowa, to Walter Eugene and Lillie Walker Anderson. She 
            married William Nichols Sr. in Lincoln. He died in 1961. 
            Survivors are one daughter, Sara (and 
            Robert) Sutton of Lincoln; six grandchildren, Robert (and Debra) Lee 
            Jr., Deborah Gray, Kathy (and Larry) Taylor, Richard (and Lisa) Lee, 
            Ronele (and Lyle) Benedict and Michael Lee; 12 great-grandchildren; 
            and six great-great-grandchildren. 
            She was also preceded in death by one 
            daughter, Sandra; two stepsons; two brothers; and two sisters. Memorials 
            may be made to Cerebral Palsy Foundation.

            Sarah Johnson 
            Sarah Emma Johnson, 94, of Mason City 
            died at 12:45 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, 2002, at the Mason City Area 
            Nursing Home. 
            She was cremated, and burial will be in 
            Oakland Cemetery, Warsaw. There will be no services. 
            Mrs. Johnson was married to a 
            Presbyterian minister, and together they served 12 churches. 
            She was born April 2, 1908, in Minier 
            to George L. and Julia Rolfs Meeker. She married Irwin W. Johnson on 
            May 6, 1933, in Chicago. He died April 23, 1970. 
            Surviving are one son, Roger C. Johnson 
            of McKenzie, Tenn.; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and 
            one sister, Edith Krohn of Aurora. 
            She was also preceded in death by one 
            son, Stanley Irwin Johnson; one sister; and two brothers. 
            She was a member of the Presbyterian 
            Church U.S.A. for more than 70 years. 
            She received a bachelor’s degree from 
            Carthage College, which was in Carthage. She also attended a year of 
            graduate school in Christian education at McCormick Seminary in 
            Chicago. Memorial 
            contributions may be given to the United Presbyterian Church of 
            Mason City, where a fund will be set up to support a Presbyterian

            Joseph Trenkle 
            Joseph M. Trenkle, 92, of Lincoln died 
            at 7:22 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 1, 2002, at Abraham Lincoln Memorial 
            Hospital. 
            His funeral will be at 3:30 p.m. 
            Thursday at Kerrigan-Peasley Funeral Home in Lincoln, with Father 
            Thomas Taylor officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the 
            service. 
            Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. 
            Trenkle was employed at Rocky Ford 
            Limestone for 19 years and later at Cutler-Hammer for 14 years. He 
            retired in 1972. 
            He was born Jan. 8, 1910, in St. Louis, 
            Mo., to Joseph M. and Blanche Williamson Trenkle. 
            He is survived by one sister, Frances 
            M. Trenkle of Lincoln. 
            He was preceded in death by two 
            brothers, Adrian Trenkle and Wayne Trenkle. 
            He was a member of Holy Family Church 
            and a lifetime member of the Lincoln Sportsman’s Club. Memorials 
            may be made to Holy Family Church.

            Ryan Struebing 
            Ryan James Struebing, 24, of Elgin, 
            formerly of New Holland, died at 12:42 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 1, 2002, 
            at his home.

            Wednesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln. There 
            will be a prayer service at 4:30 p.m. 
            The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday

            officiating. 
            Burial will be in Richmond Grove 
            Cemetery, New Holland. 
            Struebing was a speech therapist at 
            Westfield Elementary in Algonquin. 
            He was born July 21, 1978, in St. 
            Charles to James R. and Anne M. Strycharske Struebing. 
            Survivors are his parents, of New 
            Holland; three sisters, Meredith (and Michael) Toler of Maryland 
            Heights, Mo., Bethany Struebing of Normal and Lindsay Struebing of 
            New Holland; his maternal grandmother, Dorothy Strycharske of Punta 
            Gorda, Fla.; his paternal grandparents, Robert and Mildred Struebing 
            of New Holland; and a special friend, Amanda Grindey of Rockford. 
            He was preceded in death by his 
            maternal grandfather, Clarence Strycharske. 
            He was a member of Holy Family Church 
            in Lincoln. 
            He was a 1996 graduate of Lincoln 
            Community High School, where he was student body president. He 
            attended Eastern Illinois University and received a master’s degree 
            in communication disorders, graduating cum laude in 2002. He served 
            as president of Delta Sigma Phi fraternity and was associate 
            resident director for Greek Court at Eastern Illinois University. Memorials 
            may be made to the Ryan J. Struebing Memorial Fund at New Holland 
            Banking Center, New Holland.

            Anna Hessner 
            Anna E. Payne Hessner, 88, of Lincoln 
            died at 1:32 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 1, 2002, at the Christian Village 
            Nursing Home in Lincoln.

            Mrs. Hessner was a homemaker for her 
            family. 
            She was born Jan. 13, 1914, in Logan 
            County to Asa John and Lillian Carson French. She married Lloyd 
            Copeland Payne on April 13, 1932, and he died in 1952. She later 
            married Frank Hessner in California, and he also preceded her in 
            death. 
            Surviving are daughters Mary Barringer 
            of Springfield, Carolyn Veronesi of Lincoln and Marilyn (and James) 
            Taylor of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; sons Darrell (and Marilyn) Payne 
            of Morton, Leon Payne of Tampa, Fla., and John Payne of Tampa, Fla.; 
            21 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Helen 
            Martin of Lincoln and Alice McKenzie of Decatur. 
            She was also preceded in death by one 
            daughter, Leona Payne; one son, Delmer Payne; and one sister, Irene 
            Broughton. 
            She was a member of the First Christian 
            Church of San Bernardino, Calif., and the Rebekah Lodge of Lincoln. 
            She had moved to California in 1962 and 
            lived there until 1994, when she returned to Lincoln. Memorials 
            may be made to the donor’s choice. 
 
            Franklin ‘Cedric’ Bohn 
            Franklin Eugene "Cedric" Bohn, 76, of 
            Mount Pulaski died at 10:55 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, 2002, at 
            Vonderleith Living Center. 
            Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. 
            Tuesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski, 
            with a Masonic service at 7 p.m. 
            His funeral will be at 10 a.m. 
            Wednesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader in Mount Pulaski. Bill Shanle 
            will officiate. 
            Burial, with military rites, will be in 
            Mount Pulaski Cemetery. 
            Bohn retired in 1987 from the Logan 
            County Highway Department, where he worked as a heavy equipment 
            operator. He was an auctioneer for over 40 years. 
            He was born Nov. 10, 1925, in Logan 
            County to Normal E. "Jack" and Minnie K. McGeath Bohn. 
            Survivors are one daughter, Charlotte 
            (and James) Baldwin of Mount Pulaski; one granddaughter, Jodette 
            (and Jody) Stanley of Latham; one brother, Willard R. Bohn of 
            Elkhart; and one sister, Blanche Zahn of Gillett, Wis. 
            He was preceded in death by a grandson, 
            Jeff Baldwin, and a great-granddaughter, Angel Marie Stanley. 
            He was a member of Lake Fork Christian 
            Church. 
            He was also a member of Scroggin-Gee 
            VFW Post 777 and a life member of Ryman-Fuiten American Legion Post 
            447, both of Mount Pulaski; Masonic Lodge 121, Mount Pulaski, 
            Commandry 39, Lodge Council Chapter Consistory; Ansar Temple, 
            Springfield; Logan County Shrine Club; Shriners Tin Lizzie Patrol 
            Unit; and 40 et 8 Voiture Locale 985. Memorials
