Dr. John Raffa, 78,
of Lincoln died Friday, April 11, 2003, at 1:27 a.m. at Abraham
Lincoln Memorial Hospital.
Visitation will be
from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in
Lincoln.
His funeral will be
at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader, with the Rev.
Thomas Taylor officiating.
Burial, with military
rites, will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield.
John Raffa, D.C.,
owned and operated Raffa Chiropractic Clinic in Lincoln since 1954.
He was a U.S. Army
paratrooper during World War II.
He was born June 5,
1924, in Ashland, W.Va., to Michael and Louise Ambrosini Raffa. He
married Mildred "Micky" Alley in October 1953 in Moline.
Surviving Dr. Raffa
are his wife, of Lincoln, four sons, Mark (and Donna) Raffa of
Springfield, John K. Raffa of Northbrook, Doug Raffa of Springfield
and Danny (and Tina) Raffa of Lincoln; seven grandchildren, Katie,
Hailey, Lexy, Jason, Natalie, Danyel and Daphne; and one sister,
Peggy "JoAnn" Deane of Post Huemene, Calif.
He was preceded in
death by his parents; one brother, Guy; and one sister, Mary.
He was of the
Christian faith.
He was a 34-year
member of American Legion Post 263 and a member of AMVETS.
He played violin at
the Lincoln Depot and in the Lincoln area for many years and was a
member of String-A-Longs and the Lincoln Area Music Society.
He was also an animal
lover.

fund for American Legion Post 263.
