“The parade theme was chosen to
allow participants to either depict scenes from Lincoln's past 150
years or predict future Christmas traditions,” said Bobbi Abbott,
executive director of the chamber. “The theme seemed appropriate
during Lincoln's sesquicentennial year, as we honored the past yet
‘planted seeds' for the future.”
The chamber is accepting
entries from businesses, industry, governmental agencies, schools,
civic and not-for-profit groups and religious, youth and charitable
organizations. There is no charge to enter. Cash prizes are awarded.
The evening parade around the
downtown square features marching bands, lighted floats and
vehicles, and military marching units. Groups are strongly
encouraged to use motorized vehicles in an attempt to reduce the
number of walking entries.
Interested participants may
call 735-2385 or e-mail
chamber@lincolnillinois.com for an entry form or further
information.
