MOUNT PULASKI -- Sheila Rae Mardis, 58, of Mount Pulaski died Sunday, Jan. 23, 2005, at 8:10 p.m. at St. John's Hospital North in Springfield.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski.

Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the First Christian Church of Mount Pulaski, with John Robertson officiating.

Burial will be in Steenbergen Cemetery, rural Mount Pulaski.

Mrs. Mardis was a retired high school English teacher. She had taught at Hartsburg-Emden and at North Shelby High School in Shelbyville, Mo.

She was born Jan. 30, 1946, in Logan County to Virgil "Skeet" Wayne and Maurine Elizabeth Green Wilham. She married Clarence T. Mardis in Shelbyville, Mo., on Feb. 14, 1988.

She is survived by her husband, of Mount Pulaski; one son, Jerod Jeffrey (and Amanda) Wilham Fults of Lincoln; one granddaughter, Kelsey Ann Fults of Mount Pulaski; and one brother, Darrell Allen (and Kathleen) Wilham of Shelbina, Mo.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Ronnie Wayne Wilham; and one sister, Beth McPeak.

She was a member of the First Christian Church of Mount Pulaski, ABWA of Mount Pulaski, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Mount Pulaski Historical Society, Red Hat Society and Moose Lodge of Chicago.

Memorials may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation or the First Christian Church of Mount Pulaski.

MOUNT PULASKI -- Lee Vernon McCain, 94, died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2005, at 1:40 a.m. at Vonderlieth Living Center.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski.

His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the First Christian Church of Mount Pulaski. Officiating will be Donald McCain, John Robertson and Bill Shanle.

Burial will be in Steenbergen Cemetery, rural Mount Pulaski.

Mr. McCain was a retired farmer.

He was born Oct. 13, 1910, in Logan County to Alpha Carl and Melinda Elizabeth Huffman McCain. He married Ethel Fuiten in Springfield on Dec. 7, 1933.

He is survived by his wife, of Mount Pulaski; three sons, Donald Leon (and Sandy) McCain of Mount Pulaski, Jimmy Ray (and Marilyn) McCain of Hillsboro, Mo., and Billy Lee (and Vera) McCain of Stoughton, Wis.; nine grandchildren and two stepgrandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Cecil McCain of Cornland.

He was preceded in death by two brothers.

He was a member of the Mount Pulaski Christian Church.

MASON CITY -- Wesley Brown "Fizzle" Liesman, 80, of Mason City, died Friday, Jan. 21, 2005, at 12:08 p.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

Visitation was from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Hurley Funeral Home.

His funeral was at 11 a.m. Monday at Christ Lutheran Church, with the Rev. James Childs and the Rev. Raymond Bell officiating.

Burial is in Mason City Cemetery.

Mr. Liesman was a farmer in the Mason City area.

He was born May 11, 1924, in Logan County to Grover and Pearl Sanders Liesman. He married Marie Terviel in Lincoln on Aug. 15, 1942.

He is survived by his wife; one son, Roger Liesman of Mason City; two daughters, Ronda (and Richard) Reuss of Littleton, Colo., and Sue Liesman of Mason City; two grandchildren; and four sisters, Gladys Steinhour of Middletown, Dorothy Talkington of Springfield, Lois Stuart of Perry, Mo., and Doris Morris of Vandalia, Mo.

He was preceded in death by brothers, one sister, one son and one grandson, Jeff (and wife Andrea) Reuss.

He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church of Mason City, Mason County Farm Bureau and the Illinois Angus Association.

McLEAN -- Faye E. Watkins, 61, of McLean, died Thursday, Jan. 20, 2005, at 6:59 p.m. at St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the McLean Christian Church. Her funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with Tony Billingsley officiating.

Burial will be in Funks Grove Cemetery.

Peasley Funeral Home in Lincoln is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Watkins and her husband owned and operated the Honeycomb Beauty Salon in Bloomington.

She was born Oct. 3, 1943, in Gibson City to Virgil and Grace Rhodes. She married Jack Watkins on May 13, 1967, in Gibson City.

Family members include one son, Barry (and Jody) Watkins of Bloomington; one daughter, Sally (and Rick) Waldschmidt of Normal; three grandchildren, Jordan Taylor Watkins, Olivia Kathleen Haas and Chelsie Mae Watkins; one sister, Mary Ann (and Jack) Taylor of southern Illinois; and four brothers, Don (and Mary) Rhodes of Florida, Ed (and Karen) Rhodes of Florida, Fred (and Anna Marie) Rhodes of El Paso and Jay (and Linda) Rhodes of Dahina.

She was preceded in death by her parents and by Dick (wife Thelma) Rhodes of Gibson City.

She was a devoted mother and wife and passionately loved her grandchildren. She will be missed by many.
