Sen. Larry Bomke,
R-Springfield, (right) spoke as a sponsor of Dan Bluthard (left)
during the Illinois Senate Executive Appointments Committee session
on Thursday, when committee members recommended Bluthard's
appointment to be the new director of the Illinois Department of
Financial and Professional Regulation.
Bluthard is a resident of the 50th District and was recently
appointed by Gov. Blagojevich to be the IDFPR director. However, for
Bluthard to be officially named director, his appointment must be
confirmed by the Senate Executive Appointments Committee as well as
the entire Senate.
The
Illinois
Department of Financial and Professional Regulation
was established to protect Illinois citizens when dealing with over
1 million licensed professionals and approximately 100 industries
that the department regulates and licenses.
