Send a link to a friendLINCOLN -- Donald Dean Wilson, 72, of Lincoln died
Friday, May 5, 2006, at 5:22 a.m. at St. John's Hospital in
Springfield.
Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.
His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the First
United Methodist Church of Lincoln, with the Rev. Larry
Maffett officiating.
Burial will be in Irish Grove Cemetery, Middletown.
Mr. Wilson retired from the Illinois Department of
Transportation in Springfield. He previously worked for
Caterpillar Tractor in East Peoria and was a barber in
Springfield.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
He was born May 7, 1933, at Gridley to L. Cecil and Ruby
Garman Wilson. He married Donna Johnson on July 15, 1956, in
Lincoln.
He is survived by his wife, of Lincoln; one daughter,
Mary Jo (and Dub) Janssen of Middletown; one son, Steve (and
Ladonna) Wilson of Champaign; one sister, Jean (and Ralph)
Olson of Bloomington; five grandchildren, Melanie (and Don)
Nelson of Athens, Kristen (and Pete) Helton of Middletown,
Kyle Janssen of Middletown, Marc Wilson of Champaign and
Brennan Wilson of Champaign; and three great-grandchildren,
Katlyn Helton of Middletown, Miranda Nelson of Athens and
Klarissa Helton of Middletown.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother,
William Wilson.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of
Lincoln.
He was also a founding member of the Kevin Seitzer and
Tony Semple fan clubs and was an avid Cub fan.
Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist
Church of Lincoln, St. Jude's Children's Research or
Middletown 4-H'ers.

Robert Madigan

LINCOLN -- Robert A. "Bob" Madigan, 63, of Lincoln died
Thursday, May 4, 2006, at 9:10 a.m. at his home.
Visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m. Sunday at Holy
Family Church. A prayer service at 3:30 will precede the
visitation.
A funeral Mass for Mr. Madigan will be at 10:30 a.m.
Monday at Holy Family Church, with the Rev. R. Anthony Lee
officiating.
Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
Peasley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Madigan was elected to the Illinois State Senate from
the 45th District and served from 1987 to 2001, when he was
appointed by Gov. Ryan to serve as a commissioner for the
Illinois Industrial Commission. He had served as city clerk
of Lincoln from 1975 until 1987. Along with his parents and
brother, he owned a taxi service in Lincoln for many years.
He was born Nov. 28, 1942, at St. Clara's Hospital in
Lincoln to Earl T. and Theresa Loobey Madigan. He married
Connie May on July 3, 1965, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church
in Lincoln.
He is survived by his wife, of Lincoln; one son, Patrick
(and Lisa) Madigan of Lincoln; one daughter, Amy (and James)
Brown of Springfield; one sister, Sandy Naiman of Elmhurst;
and two grandchildren, Teran and Carson Madigan.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother,
Edward Madigan.
As an Illinois state senator, Madigan served as chairman
of the Insurance and Pension Committee, the Pension Law
Commission and the Illinois Legislative Sportsmen's Caucus.
He was a member of the Appropriations, Public Health,
Commerce and Labor, and Elementary and Secondary Education
committees, among others.
He was a Bush delegate to the 2000 Republican Convention.
He also served as a precinct committeeman for many years.
He was a member of Holy Family Church, 4th degree Knights
of Columbus 1250, Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge 2708,
Fraternal Order of Elks Lodge 914, Kiwanis, Jaycees and the
Lincoln/Logan County Chamber of Commerce, where he served
one year as the state government liaison. He was a past
board member of Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital and St.
Clara's Manor.
In May of 2002, he received an honorary doctorate in law
degree from Lincoln College. During his political career, he
also received numerous awards for outstanding service from a
variety of organizations, including the Illinois Retired
Teachers Association and the Illinois Primary Healthcare
Association.
He graduated from St. Patrick Grade School, Lincoln
Community High School and Millikin University in Decatur. He
played football at Millikin, was captain of the team his
senior year and was named to the 1963 all-state collegiate
team by the Peoria Journal Star. He did postgraduate studies
at Illinois State University and LaSalle Extension
University.

Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital Foundation Building Fund
or the donor's choice.

LINCOLN -- William Nichlos Smith, 73, of Lincoln died
Wednesday, May 3, 2006, at 10:34 a.m. at Abraham Lincoln
Memorial Hospital.
His funeral was at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Park Meadow
Baptist Church, with the Rev. S.M. Davis officiating.
Visitation was from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
A graveside service is at 1 p.m. Friday at Oxville
Cemetery, Oxville.
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln handled
arrangements.
Mr. Smith worked at the Logan-Mason Rehabilitation
Center.
He was born July 27, 1932, in Pekin to Charles Edward and
Mamie Lee Goodin Smith
He is survived by his guardian, Charlotte Key of Elkhart.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers,
Charles Lee Smith and Edward Laverne Smith.
He attended Park Meadows Baptist Church, and memorials
may be made to the church.
