Lincoln Daily News
welcomes letters of appreciation, information and
opinion on matters pertaining to the community.
Controversial issues:
As a
community we need to be able to talk openly about
matters that affect the quality of our lives. The
most effective and least offensive manner to get
your point across is to stick to the issue
and refrain from commenting on another person's
opinion. Letters that deviate from focusing on the
issue may be rejected or edited and marked as such.

To the editor: My daughter is 14 years post-liver transplant and
has fought for medical coverage every step of the way.
Now the state of Illinois will pay for her to stop smoking, but
they will not pay for anti-rejection medication. She has been
without medicine for almost a week.
ALMH emergency room will give her half a dose, but that’s all,
because insurance would not allow more.
Where do you go when everyone is passing the buck and the one
that is hurt is the girl without the medicine that will keep her
alive?
Antonia E. Lolling
(See ALMH response.)
