Devin
Biggs caught this picture of a small funnel
cloud east of Lincoln at approximately 5:30 p.m. Tuesday. He contacted Dan Fulscher
of the Logan County Emergency Management Agency, who confirmed it was a
funnel. Later he spoke with meteorologist
Chris Miller of the National Weather Service in
Lincoln for an explanation of what was going on
that evening in the skies. Miller told
Biggs: "There was a weak boundary (or weak front
if you prefer) that some cumulus clouds rapidly
developed on. There was just enough moisture to
get these clouds going, and enough difference in
temperature on either side of the boundary to
create updrafts."
Today's forecast also includes the opportunity
for developing severe storms.

Priscilla Presley, left, Elvis
Presley's ex-wife, and Lisa Marie Presley, right, Elvis
and Priscilla Presley's daughter, speak to fans
gathered at a candlelight vigil Wednesday at Graceland, Elvis
Presley's Memphis, Tenn. home.
It was the first time that Priscilla and Lisa
Marie Presley appeared together at the annual event on the eve
of the anniversary of Elvis Presley's death, Aug. 16, 1977. The two women appeared on an
elevated stage in front of the crowd Wednesday night and thanked
them for coming. Fans held up lit candles, illuminating
their faces in orange light as they stood in the street outside
the gates of Graceland.
This
combination of 2012 file photos shows, from left, San Francisco Giants pitcher
Matt Cain on June 13, Chicago White Sox pitcher Philip Humber on April 21 and
Seattle Mariners pitcher Felix Hernandez on Aug. 15. Seattle's
Hernandez threw a perfect game, the Mariners' first ever and the 23rd in
baseball history, against the Tampa Bay Rays in a 1-0 victory on Wednesday. It
was the third perfect game in baseball this season -- a first -- joining gems by
Chicago's Humber against the Mariners in April and San Francisco's Cain versus
the Houston Astros in June.
