Starting
today, a new company will be working at the city
of Lincoln landfill, grinding landscape waste
that has been piling up for quite some time now. The city has entered into an
agreement whereby the waste will be ground into
marketable mulch products and sold by that firm. According to the attendant at the landfill,
residents will be asked to separate their woody
products, such as tree limbs and brush, from their
soft products, such as leaves, grass and garden
waste, when coming to the landfill.

Announcement:
On Monday evening, the Logan County
Board of Appeals continued the hearing on a request to rezone
property near the old rock quarry west of Lincoln. Rezoning the
acreage would allow the continuation of limestone mining. After
an additional three hours of hearing the pros and cons, the
appeals board determined to adjourn to Tuesday before rendering
a recommendation on the matter.

Here's the Joker!
Film producer and comics fan Michael Uslan, who acquired the
rights to make Batman as a movie in 1979, knew nearly a decade
before Tim Burton's 1989 "Batman" was released who the Joker
would be.
It came in a burst of inspiration in 1980 from the pages in the
New York Post: a publicity photo of Jack Nicholson from the "The
Shining" in which he hacks through a door and announces, "Here's
Johnny!"
Uslan knew immediately he'd found his clown prince of crime.
Using black marker, a red pen and Wite-Out, he turned Nicholson
into the DC Comics villain.
The sketch went up for auction Monday until Dec. 3 through
ComicConnect.com, along with several other pieces of art and
comics that Uslan has collected.
