2013 LDN Picture of the Year
Taken
at the Logan County Fair, this shot by Lisa Ramlow is the 2013 LDN Picture of
the Year.
While LDN staff took thousands upon thousands of photos this year, we chose this
one for a couple of reasons. Artistically, it shows depth, character and
movement in people standing still. The image is clear, and the expressions on
the faces show pieces of the personality of the subjects.
Secondly, we chose it because it exemplifies all that is good in Logan County —
our youth.
Throughout this past year we’ve covered dozens of events where the young
people in Lincoln and Logan County have shown us what they are made of. They
consist of clean-cut, hardworking, caring individuals who love their fellowman,
their country and their hometowns, and each day of their lives set an example
for the rest of us.

A
fire Saturday night in the dust collection system at the cob plant on Illinois Route 10 outside
of Lincoln brought several units to the scene to assist.
Lincoln Rural,
city of Lincoln, Atlanta and Beason fire departments all assisted with the blaze,
which was contained to the dust collector system.
The system
contained approximately 100 flammable filters. Firefighters reported moderate
damage but no injuries in the fire.
The fire took more than three hours to control.
