It has taken a few years to accomplish, but Monday evening with eight aldermen present at the Lincoln City Council, they approved by unanimous vote the immediate demolition of the property at 127 S. Sangamon Street. The low bid on the project came in at just over $59,000, about $19,000 more than expected. However, aldermen agreed this building is a danger to the community, and it must come down. Mayor Keith Snyder said he felt confident money could be found in the budget to cover the increased cost.

It's that time of year again, time to get your entries together for the Logan County Fair. This year the first ten entrants who did not compete in 2013, will receive free jar lids. To register, visit the fair secretary's office at the south end of the grandstand. Office hours are Monday thru Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Registration closes on July 23.

The Lincoln Heat took 2nd in the Olympia Tournament this weekend going 3-2. Their record is now 26-11. The Heat play Mount Zion at home on Wednesday to end their season.
