The state tour passed through Lincoln and Atlanta in Logan County. The goal of the tour is to demonstrate that electric cars are viable modes of transportation on long trips. Included in the day’s events in Lincoln, Snyder announced Eaton Corporation will be donating a car charger to the city in the future. The charger will be incorporated into the renovation plans at the Lincoln Depot. Be sure to see the press release below from Mayor Snyder, and look for additional coverage including the stop in Atlanta in a future edition of Lincoln Daily News.

This is a shot of the stainless steel kitchen inside the Pullman dining car attached to the Lincoln Depot. This car is one of four including a lounge car and two cabooses that will be removed as part of the Lincoln Depot restoration. According the Mayor Keith Snyder, the Monticello train museum may be interested in this car for their collection. Mayor Snyder said Tuesday that the museum has an entire train of this same model, with the exception of the dining car.

Michael Lowery from Mount Pulaski has been chosen by the Illinois High School Baseball Coaches Association as a 2014 Class 1A All-State Selection.

As part of the 2014 Class 1A All-State Team, Lowery has been invited by the Chicago White Sox to take part in the "All-Star" night at U.S. Cellular Field on Monday, July 21.
