On Thursday afternoon the Lincoln Logan County Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors hosted a ribbon cut for Lincoln’s newest Country Financial representative, Michelle Bauer.

Bauer is the daughter of long time Country representative Charlie Williams, and will be taking over the agency upon her father’s official retirement in July of this year.

Recently, students in grades fifth through eighth at Zion Lutheran School participated in an essay contest hosted by the Logan County Genealogical and Historical Society. Students were asked to write on the subject, "My Favorite Quote by Abraham Lincoln".

The first place winners from in the contest were fifth-grader Olivia Thompson, sixth-grader Caroline Ahrends, seventh-place Noah Butler, and eighth-grader Madeline Steiner.

Though open to all, Zion Lutheran was the only school that participated in the contest. This Monday evening, the students will read their essays aloud at the April meeting of the LCG&HS.

On Thursday afternoon, Lincoln Community High School Senior Kathryn Hasprey signed her letter of intent to attend Eastern Illinois University. Kathryn will major in Biology and Pre-Med, and also plans to play golf on the University team. Kathryn is the daughter of Keith and Vicki Hasprey.
