People
began arriving early to Johnston Center
on Monday night in preparation for a
special city of Lincoln council meeting.
The meeting was called to hear public
opinion regarding options the city is
considering for refuse and recycling
services. By meeting time at 6:30 p.m.
the majority of the seats were filled. A
large number of constituents voiced
opinions and asked questions of the
council. At the end of the night,
aldermen agreed to table the vote
proposed for next Monday night. Instead,
the council will discuss the topic
further at the next Committee of the
Whole meeting on August 15th, with the
possibility of a vote to be taken by the
end of the month. LDN will have complete
coverage of this meeting next week.
