On
Saturday morning, the annual Moving
Forward 5K/10K Run/Walk held at Edward
Madigan State Park just outside of
Lincoln was made more challenging for
runners by very brisk winds. However,
the lack of sunshine also kept the run
from being too hot for participants.
Approximately 100 people participated in
the event hosted by Abraham Lincoln
Memorial Hospital Memorial SportsCare
program designed to raise awareness for
the importance of staying physically
fit.
Meanwhile, on Saturday afternoon, those
winds picked up even more, forcing the
Humane Society of Logan County to alter
some of their plans for the annual
Blessing of the Animals and open house
at the shelter. Several people came with
their beloved pets for the blessing, and
other guests enjoyed the refreshments
while kids took advantage of the
opportunity to paint pumpkins and have
their faces painted.
