Welden Eeten |
At
age 95, Weldon Eeten is a World War II
Army veteran who has received the Bronze
Star as well as a Purple Heart. Weldon
was born in Emden and grew up in
Hartsburg. He is believed to be the
oldest Purple Heart recipient in Logan
County.
On September 13th, Eeten, and the Emden
Village President and Commander of the
Emden American Legion Post 506, Michael
Kavanaugh, presented Marine veteran and
Commander of the Military Order of the
Purple Heart Chapter 159, Joe Schaler,
with a hand-painted wooden flag made by
135 Flag Works in Oklahoma. The company
is owned and operated by a cousin of
Mayor Kavanaugh.
