Wednesday
was the worst day thus far for the smoke that is filling
the air across the majority of Illinois. It stems from
wildfires in Canada according to experts who have also
said this is the worst infiltration of smoke pollution
this part of the state has seen in at least 50 years if
not more.
Furthermore, the smell coming with the smoke is reported
to be caused by a chemical reaction of the fires that is
very hazardous to health, and on Wednesday citizens
throughout the state were advised to stay in as much as
possible and to wear face masks if they were to spend
any time outside.
For today, anticipated heavy storms with rain and wind
could help drive the smoke away from the area.
