It is with great sadness
that we report that the rumors of the closing of the
Pink Shutter Thrift Store have been confirmed. The store
will close on September 30th according to a post on the
business’s social media page.
The Pink Shutter is owned by Lincoln Memorial Hospital /LMH
Auxiliary, a member of the Memorial Health System
network of hospitals. In August it was announced that
Memorial Health would be laying off approximately 200
employees. Pink Shutter Manager Jennifer Heidbreder was
among those who were laid off soon after that
announcement. Volunteer staff left at the store were
sharing during the annual end of summer Buck a Bag Sale
that the store was on the short list of Memorial Health
System/Lincoln Memorial Hospital cuts.
This week, the official announcement was made via the
social media page with a note saying, “Thank you to
everyone who has supported the store and the LMH
Auxiliary over the years. It has been a joy to serve the
community and Lincoln Memorial Hospital. Please stop by
and see us before we close….”

When does fall officially
begin? For some of us, the beginning of that cool
weather season is when Gail’s Pumpkin Patch opens. The
opening of the popular local pumpkin patch was Friday,
September 1st. The patch will remain open throughout
September and October.

today’s edition.
