Today the pink shirt pictures in Lincoln Daily News
feature two local businesses that don’t have a lot
in common. Atlanta National Bank is of course about
banking, finance, and security while Gail’s Pumpkin
patch in rural Beason is all about fun times. What
they do have in common is that all these people care
about our cancer warriors and survivors, and some of
them may very well be cancer survivors themselves.
So how do we draw these two together in a comment
about breast cancer awareness month, by drawing on
what they don’t have in common. Every person in
these pictures is different with unique
characteristics in their personalities and their
physical attributes.
Just like every person is unique, every instance of
breast cancer has its unique qualities as well.
Every person has their unique experiences in their
battles against the terrible disease. And, just like
you are unique and your cancer is unique to your
body and your chemistry, your treatment plan should
be unique also, designed specifically for you by
your medical team.
So while many of us know people who have had breast
cancer, remember, their experience is not going to
be your experience. There will be differences in how
you are treated and how you fight your personal
battle. If your battle plan is not the same as
someone you know, don’t presume yours is wrong. Talk
to your medical team and have them explain your
unique plan and ask questions until you are
satisfied. Your battle is your unique journey, and
you should have every expectation that you will be
kept informed every step of the way.

On Saturday evening the hay rack
wagon was a popular activity at the Logan County 4-H
Fall Festival.
The fall event held at the Logan County Fairgrounds
was an opportunity for children and parents who are
not 4-H members to get acquainted with the program
and perhaps decide it is an activity they would like
to be involved in.
