          Students are introduced to safety,

          design processes, basic types of

equipment, and practice a variety of

          welding skills ultimately getting a

chance to create a product of their own

          choosing.

          With limited quantities of equipment

and space, the shop is set up in stations

and students rotate through in groups

to give each student the opportunity

and the time to experience the use

of various tools used for different

          purposes. Students begin with Mig

welding, and as their skills build move

on to arc use in Tig welding. A favorite

of the students is the versatility and

uses of the computerized plasma cam.

          Students practice and are graded

          on their skills in

            beads

          , fillet, lap;

horizontal weld lines, as well as

          vertical, horizontal, overhead and

corner welds. They learn the use of

oxyacetylene to strait cut, bevel cut,

and hole cut; as well as plasma cuts.
