2016 Wellness Expo

Your health... it is your most
precious resource, and one that
you control. You may even be
the most influential person,
responsible for children and
seniors in your family.
Lincoln Daily News is bringing
you this two-part publication we
hope informs and inspires you
to make use of local resources
to make best health and fitness
choices. We hope it may even
persuade you to make a lifestyle
change if it is needed.
In the first edition we are
bringing you articles written
by local experts on key health
matters and fitness choices. In
the second edition, LDN will
bring you photos and additional
coverage of the all-new Wellness
Expo.
The Logan County Department
of Public Health, Lincoln
Park District, and the Healthy
Communities Partnership are
hosting this first time Wellness
Expo on Saturday, February 20th
from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. The
Expo is free and takes place at
the Lincoln Park District.
This event replaces the former
Health Fair with greater
emphasis on lifestyle.
Angela Stoltzenburg, Healthy
Communities Partnership said,
“The Expo is a great opportunity
to learn about local resources for
healthy habits. Simply attending
the Expo is a step in the right
direction for a healthier life and
it’s a great way for families to
help celebrate health together.”
Exhibitors will offer a variety
of activities, drawings and give-
aways, talks, and demonstrations
throughout the Expo.
In the Ball Room at 9:30
a.m. Registered Dietitian and
Certified Diabetes Educator at
ALMH, Jennifer DiPasquale will
talk on diabetes; at 10:30 will be
a demonstration on hip hop hula
and cardio dance; and at 11:30 an
international lactation consultant
will discuss breastfeeding.
Back by popular demand this
year is the 65-foot inflatable
obstacle course offering
unlimited fun for all ages.
Free health screenings include
cholesterol, Body Mass Index,
health assessments, pulse
oximeter, glucose, bone density,
blood pressure and more (Refer
to the contents for list of testing
and prerequisites).
Stacy’s Family Pharmacy
is hosting an on-site review
of medications and possible
interactions (Refer to the
contents Free opportunity to
review your medications at
Wellness Expo for details.)
Pregnant and new moms are
encouraged to attend “Bring
Your Babies: Breastfeeding 101”
to hear from a certified lactation
consultant and much more.
Added this year, Flossie and
Delzena’s will be presenting
cooking demonstrations at 10
a.m., 11 a.m. and 12 p.m.
Recycling opportunities will
be available during the expo
including drug recycling,
eyeglasses, cell phones, hearing
aids, plastic bags and printer
cartridges.

about how to keep yourself and
your family healthy and fit at the
Wellness Expo.
