[DEC. 6, 2003]  Lincoln Christian College's "Christmas in the Chapel" will open with a new physical feature: 16-by-8-foot stone markers bearing the name of the college and seminary. Each base marker weighs over 9,000 pounds. The gift is from the estate of Charles Atwater, a devoted Christian man and friend of the college.

"Mr. Atwater was a former airplane mechanic and maintenance technician," said Lincoln Christian College and Seminary President Keith Ray, "and I believe he would be pleased to know that his gift is visited daily by something that meant so much to him: airplanes and college students."

The markers are located at the college entrance on Illinois Route 10, directly across from the Logan County Airport.

The stone markers were designed by Chuck Fisher of Architectural Research and Design of Peoria and built by PJ Hoerr of Bloomington.
