ISU's Johnson to host WJBC morning show

[JULY 3, 2003]  NORMAL -- Illinois State head football coach Denver Johnson is used to answering questions from the media, but not asking them. That will all change next week as he fulfills a lifelong dream and joins WJBC program director R.C. McBride as the substitute hosts of the "Laughlin and Reynolds Show" while Scott Laughlin and Colleen Reynolds take a week off.

Johnson and McBride will occupy the studio July 7-11 as the show runs from 6 to 9 a.m.

"I wanted to get a personality, and Denver definitely fits the bill," McBride said. "I think the week is going to be a lot of fun for not only Denver, but myself as well. We will also have a number of VIP guests throughout the week."

Already booked VIP guests include Mayor Chris Koos of Normal and Illinois Wesleyan head football coach Norm Eash.

"Other than football, radio and music has always been one of my passions," Johnson said. "I've always felt comfortable around a microphone, and I'm thankful to R.C., Scott and Colleen for giving me this opportunity. It should be a lot of fun."

Johnson and McBride can be heard on 1230 AM in the Bloomington-Normal area or on the Web at www.wjbc.com.
