[OCT. 18, 2003]  CHICAGO -- On Friday, Gov. Rod R. Blagojevich accepted John Coli's request to withdraw his nomination to the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority board of directors.

Coli contacted the governor late Friday afternoon with this message:

"I am withdrawing my name for consideration to the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority board of directors. I deeply respect and fully support the administration and the important changes that it is committed to bringing to the tollway. I do not wish to have my appointment overshadow this effort."

"I value John and accept his decision. Today, I am withdrawing his nomination to the Toll Highway Authority board," said Blagojevich.
