Kings victorious in hockey tourney     Send a link to a friend

[OCT. 27, 2003]  Several boys with local connections -- Lincoln resident Halen Sampson, a fourth-grader at Northwest School; Nick Cameron, a fourth-grader at Carroll Catholic School; and Dylan Miller, a former Lincoln resident and grandson of JoAnne Marlin -- traveled to Gurnee this past weekend to play with their team, the Springfield Kings, in the "Fright on Ice" Tournament, hosted by the Lake County Atoms Youth Hockey Association.

Although the Kings lost their first game, they rallied to win their second game, a 3-0 shutout. They tied their third game but ended up being overall point winners and were advanced to compete for first place.

The final game was a tie and went into overtime, which left both teams scoreless, leading to a shootout in which the Kings were victorious, taking first place!

Congratulations, Springfield Kings and coaches!
