Madigan

Here's
something we haven't seen in a while ... local creeks full and
overflowing. Joe Funk, a caretaker at Kickapoo Creek
Park, said Thursday he saw the water in the creek rise about a foot in the course
of two hours. A visit to Madigan Park showed that Salt Creek is
also filling to the brim.

Lightning strikes downtown
Huntsville, Ala., as strong storms move into Madison County on Thursday
afternoon. A strong spring storm that socked the
Midwest with ice and heavy, wet snow made its way east, raking the
South with tornadoes Thursday, with three deaths blamed on the rough
weather and thousands of people without power.

A
member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy collects Confederate flags
after the Confederate Memorial Day ceremony at Magnolia Cemetery in Charleston,
S.C., on May 10, 2011. Southern white men don't usually drive racial
dialogue. For as long as race has riven America, they have been depicted more
often as the problem than the solution. So the country music star Brad Paisley
must have been unsurprised at the days of widespread criticism of his new song
"Accidental Racist," which details the challenges facing a "white man from the
Southland" and then features LL Cool J rapping from a black perspective.
