In
spite of the raindrops falling on their heads, on Friday morning the students of
the Lincoln Community High School Student Government proudly unveiled the new
street sign designating the portion of the road in front of their school and the
Lincoln Park District as "Railer Way.”
In support of the students at LCHS in general, and the Railer Basketball Team
specifically, the city of Lincoln chose to re-name a short section of Primm
Road, Railer Way. Mayor Keith Snyder made the announcement to the students on
March 22, as part of the Railer Basketball homecoming celebration. The Railer
basketball team made school history this year, coming in first runner up in
their class at state Illinois High School Association competition.
Included in the photos above are members of the student government with their
sponsor Chris Hammer, Principal Todd Poelker, and the Railers’ number one fan,
Tim McDougal.
