Starting
Monday, July 27, the railroad crossing at Governor
Oglesby Drive in Elkhart will be closed for railroad
construction. The work being done is in conjunction
with the Illinois Alton to Chicago High-Speed Rail
project. A detour route will be available to get in
to town. The route will include taking the
Mine Road just south of Elkhart. Signs should
be posted to guide the way. The crossing is expected to be closed for
several weeks, but the engineering firm, Milord
Company, has promised it will re-open by September
1st.
